HOWARD E. SMITH, JR.
Of Counsel
Howard E. Smith, Jr. graduated from Geneva High School in 1942, and
received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1948.
He then attended Harvard Law School, and was awarded his law degree
(LL.B.) in 1951. After practicing law in Washington, D.C. for a short time, he
returned to Geneva in 1952, and has been serving local businesses and
families in private practice ever since. He has engaged in general civil and
trial practice in the local state and federal courts, and has 45 years of
experience in estate planning, probate, real estate, zoning, and corporate law.
Mr. Smith has served as Mayor, and City Attorney of the City of Geneva, and
as President of the Kane County Bar Association. He is a member of the
American College of Probate Counsel, as well as the County, State and
American Bar Associations. Howard E. Smith, Jr. became "of counsel" to the
firm on May 1, 1999, and continues to work on behalf of certain existing
clients.
